How do I use the Coinplate? Do I need any separate tools?

Included with Coinplate Alpha and Coinplate Grid you will find a set of all accessories needed to mark down your seed phrase. You mark your seed words with included tool in an easy process by pushing marking tool down on the letter fields. No need to use hammer or electric tools for Coinplate Alpha or Coinplate Grid.

For Coinplate Punch you will need a set of stamps and a hammer. You can purchase Coinplate Punch in a bundle with letter stamps and number stamps in our shop. Alternatively for Coinplate Punch you can use engraving drill to engrave the seed words by hand. You can purchase the engraving drill in our shop in the bundle with Coinplate Punch.

You can also use letter and number stamps with a hammer or engraving drill to mark extra information beside your seed pharse on any Coinplate.

Is Coinplate BIP39 Compatible?

Yes, all Coinplates are 100% BIP39 compatible. Every type of Coinplate has the ability to store 24 seed words which can be one 24 words seed phrase or two 12 words seed phrases.
Coinplates are super easy to use and read – you can be sure that you will be able to read your recovery phrase after a decade or longer.
Other solutions that use binary or number conversion might make reading your seed words difficult after few years.

You can use Coinplate to safely store and backup seed words for any BIP39 compatible wallets including hardware wallets like Ledger (Nano and X), Trezor, Keepkey and other as well software wallets like MetaMask, MyEtherWallet and many others including coin proprietary wallets.

It is possible to use Coinplate also with other seed phrase standards.

Are the 4 first letters of seed word enough?

Yes, BIP39 protocol is made of 2048 carefully chosen words. The way BIP39 protocol is designed guarantees that you can identify your seed words with just 4 first letters of each word on the list.
Quoting BIP39 documentation:

“…wordlist has the following characteristics:

    a) smart selection of words
   – the wordlist is created in such a way that it’s enough to type the first four
     letters to unambiguously identify the word

    b) similar words avoided
   – word pairs like “build” and “built”, “woman” and “women”, or “quick” and “quickly”
     not only make remembering the sentence difficult but are also more error prone and more difficult to guess”

This guarantees you will not mistake your seed words.

How can I secure my additional passphrase with Coinplate?

You can use additional Coinplate to store your passphrase. We do not advice storing passphrase together with a seed phrase for security reasons.
If your passphrase is just letters you can use any type of Coinplate, if you have numbers or symbols in your passphrase you should use Coinplate Punch and appropriate stamps. 

How sturdy is the Coinplate?

We went overboard with Coinplate design and made it excessively durable. Coinplate weights over 2.5 lbs or 1 kg and is made with heavy-duty Stainless Steel. Both plates are 5mm or 3/16″ thick (gauge 6) and are joined together with stainless steel bolts to form a steel slab 10mm or 3/8” thick. This is much thicker than our competitors and we make it that way so you can sleep safe. Coinplates should survive getting run over by a truck as well as being shot with handguns. There is no reason to do that but that means it will survive massive drops or being crushed by a house rubble in case of disaster.

Coinplate is 100% Stainless Steel. Plates and bolts are made of AISI 304/1.4301/A2 stainless steel type. This type of stainless steel is exceptionally corrosion resistant and can last many decades. Coinplate is fireproof with melting temperature around 1.450°C/2.650°F while house fires reach up to 850°C/1.500°F.  We use either German or other European Stainless Steel.

How can I hide Coinplate?

Coinplate features additional holes which you can use to easily attach it with screws to the furniture, ceiling, drywall, stairs, wooden beams or any other hard to reach places in your house and office. This is unique Coinplate feature not seen in competitive solutions. Included you will find a set of wood screws but you can use any suitable screws. Coinplate is rust-resistant so you can also store it outside or just bury it in a ground.  

Coinplate features no visible branding or markings that could easily tell a potential robber what he has found so it can be overlooked by a thief. On the outside it looks just like a steel slab. The logo on the front plate is just a sticker that you can easily remove.

Included you will find also tamper evident security labels. This way you can be sure no one has seen your seed while you weren’t watching.

Do you offer customization / personalization?

Sure we do! Because we manufacture our products in-house, we are able to add new elements or change the design for you. We can add an additional engraving of your choice on the front and back surfaces of our Coinplates. Please contact us for details.

What about returns?

We offer a 30 day return policy for all our customers. Return parcel has to be shipped within 30 days from receiving your order. Please notify us by e-mail about return. You can return any item for any reason just make sure that all items are unused and complete.  After we receive and inspect returned items, we will refund you for the amount paid for the ordered items. Shipment costs are not refundable. Details about our returns and refunds policy could be find at our Return Policy page.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes, we ship to any country. The worldwide shipping is free for orders above $100 for all countries and territories worldwide. For orders below $100 the shipping cost is $9. We ship wordlwide with FedEx Priority.
In the EU we ship with FedEx and DHL. Estimated delivery time to your location can be found on product page or cart/checkout.

Please be aware that in some countries customs office can charge you additional fees, duties and taxes which is outside of our control. In most countries (for example USA and all European Union) you will not be charged by customs office.

How can I pay for the order?

Currently we support payments via:
– Credit and debit cards, as well as other local payment methods by Stripe gateway
– Credit and debit cards and many local payment methods by Conotoxia gateway
– PayPal by PayPal gateway
– Instant cryptocurrency payments by Coingate gateway

We list prices in USD, EUR, GBP and CHF. You can change the currency using switch at the bottom of the page.
If you want to pay in any other currency, please use Conotoxia Pay payment method. It will allow you to pay in world top 27 currencies at great exchange rate.

You can pay with a Coingate cryptocurrency payment gateway using Bitcoin and Lightning (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and any other from 70+ supported cryptocurrencies. Your crypto payment will be confirmed immediately after getting enough blockchain confirmation.

Can i ask you to delete my personal information?

We are obliged by law (GDPR) to delete all your personal information on your request. You can add this request to the notes in checkout – we will delete all your information after the return period ends (30 days from delivery). Remember that you can also request this any time by e-mail.
